Open Gardens

Touring private gardens and sharing ideas with fellow gardeners is one of the favorite pastimes of NPA members, and a popular benefit of membership in the NPA.

In 2009, NPA will once again hold "Spring Garden Fling", a festival of Open Gardens that are glorious in the early spring. Members can visit spring gardens for three weekends in April. Learn more

The 2008 Open Gardens Directory, available exclusively to NPA members, was mailed to all members in late April. It contained private gardens open from May through October, with tours most weekends between those dates. Eighteen of these gardens will open for the first time this year. Also new for 2008 is a tour on October 26, highlighting fall color.

A number of the gardens have been featured in Better Homes & Gardens, The Seattle Times, Seattle Homes & Lifestyles and Sunset. A few gardens have also been winners of the prestigious Pacific Northwest Gardens Competition.

The self-guided tours, all free, come complete with driving directions and descriptions, and some have photographs.

The directory will also offer one public garden and 20 nurseries, most with display gardens.

Last year initiated a program of nurseries which offer NPA members a discount any time they shop the nursery and show their NPA membership card. Not a member? Join NPA today.  This list has expanded and is once again listed in the Open Gardens directory. Click here to see the list.
